Scope and timing
Chile's SII describes mandatory electronic fiscal-document families, including invoices and associated debit/credit notes, with consumer boletas following their own electronic rollout. Exports have specific document routes. Do not describe all of these as one B2B invoice format. SII document and export guidance
B2G transactions need their tax-document class plus the public buyer's references. B2C boletas are fiscal consumer evidence rather than business-network invoices. Cross-border sales should be assessed for the appropriate export document and qualifying tax treatment, not automatically excluded from electronic issuance.
Invoice lifecycle and data
SII's market-system page supports commercial software or own developments and links to authorised issuers, document validation, received DTEs and export-document checks. It distinguishes authentication and certificate needs for the relevant services. SII electronic market system
Confirm the issuer's RUT, approved document classes, certificates and number/folio arrangements. Preserve the structured DTE, document identity, SII result and evidence of delivery to the customer. A rendering sent by email should not be treated as proof of successful fiscal transmission.
For an adjustment, determine whether a debit or credit note is required and link it to the original transaction. Keep buyer receipt or commercial response separate from the authority's technical validation. An accepted fiscal file does not establish that the buyer accepted the goods.
ERP implications
Map document classes from the business event: domestic taxable supply, relevant exempt supply, consumer sale, dispatch and export where applicable. Prevent a POS feed and fiscal-document feed from independently recording the same revenue.
For service exporters, retain the export qualification evidence and source contract alongside the fiscal invoice. The existence of an electronic export form does not by itself establish eligibility for tax treatment.
Test a rejected DTE, duplicate delivery, linked credit and one applicable export. Reconcile issued documents, customer balances and tax workpapers by class rather than only comparing total sales.
Assign certificate renewal and technical rejections to an integration owner; tax owns document classification and accounting owns ledger reconciliation. Retain histories across supplier or ERP changes so an original document and its notes remain reconstructible.
Sources and evidence limits
Both linked SII pages were directly read on 17 October 2026. They establish operating document families and available services. Historical rollout dates are not reused as fresh compliance deadlines. Current schemas, certification steps, commercial-response timing and all sector exceptions remain implementation checks, not assumed universal rules.
Limitations: Current document-specific schema, certification and response deadlines require separate confirmation.
